We at Lakewood Park see extracurriculars as a means of ministry, serving the Lord and developing leadership. You can find our Spring sports schedules here. We offer many athletic opportunities, including:
Junior High Boys: soccer, basketball, and cross-country
Junior High Girls: volleyball, basketball, soccer, and cross-country
High School Boys: soccer, basketball, baseball, cross-country, and track
High School Girls: soccer, volleyball, basketball, softball, cross-country, and track
We view athletics as a ministry opportunity to show Christ to others through sportsmanship. Click to download the IHSAA Physical Forms.
We also have a Student Government, where students serve their peers in an elected capacity throughout the school year. Students can run for president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, and chaplain of their class. An office unique to our school is that of chaplain, who oversees the spiritual development of the class, assists in planning chapels and National Day of Prayer activities. Students interested in being leaders in their class can also run for Student Council.
Students also have an opportunity to serve their community through DeKalb VOICE, a philanthropic group of high school students who seek to improve their community through the grant-making process. This group, sponsored by the Dekko Foundation via the Dekalb County Community Foundation, consists of a freshman, sophomore, junior and senior from Lakewood Park who meet with other county high school students on a monthly basis to bestow funds on deserving groups for specific projects.
We also sponsor the St. Timothy Chapter of the National Honor Society (NHS). Our NHS chapter is actively involved in the planning and implementation of a community service/ministry project.
Our Active Faith Drama Club is an extracurricular organization that meets weekly after school to practice drama pieces with the intent to perform skits and short plays for school chapels and special organizations. This group also serves as the core for both the fall play and the spring musical.
One of the highlights of a Lakewood student’s high school experience is the Senior Trip, an event which combines spiritual, social, educational and ministry elements to make an unforgettable end to a student’s high school career. Destinations in the past have included Washington D.C., St. Louis, New York City and Chicago.
Whatever your student is passionate about, Lakewood Park Christian School has something for everyone!
