We at Lakewood Park Christian School are passionate about exploring each student’s special God-given talents in music, art and drama, and teaching our students to use their talents to glorify God.
Our music department offers many exciting options for the aspiring musician, including band, choir, music theory, worship team, bell choir and pep band. Our department is a member of the Indiana State Music Association, which provides many opportunities for students to shine in organizational contests, as well as Solo and Ensemble. Our band and choir also participate in yearly festivals, such as Music in the Parks, Branson Live on Stage and the Smokey Mountain Festival, where they have have placed first numerous times.
Our art department was designed to enable students to develop an interest in and an appreciation for the gift God has given through art. High school art courses allow students to work with many different mediums, such as drawing, painting and printmaking, clay, wire, wood and plaster. Our students’ artwork has been entered into many art shows in the area, such as at the University of St. Francis, Huntington University and Scholastic Arts, and won awards in each of these arts shows over the past few years.
Our drama department offers an elective in drama class with a small play production in the fall and a major play or musical in the spring. Our spring musical consists of three performances while our smaller productions have a single production.
The goal of this department is to show students that everything they do can be for the glory of the Lord, whether it be sculpting or portraying a character, and to teach students that this mindset can be applied to everything they do in life. By keeping their gaze fixed on the Lord, our students become difference-makers in Christ, in whatever field or hobby they choose to pursue!
