Fine Arts

We at Lakewood Park Christian School are passionate about exploring each student’s special, God-given talents in music, art, and drama, while teaching our students to use their talents to glorify God.

The LPCS Music Department offers a plethora of exciting options for the aspiring musician, including band and choir beginning in fifth grade, pep band, and worship team.  Through these opportunities, our musicians not only learn technical skills, they also develop stage presence and poise in performing. The band and choir, specifically, present concerts four times per year, including February’s Rhapsody in Art – a Fine Arts showcase evening partnered with a four-course dinner.  Our musicians also share their talents and hard work with the regional community as they compete through the Indiana State School Music Association and biennial competitions like the Cedar Point Festival of Music and the Smoky Mountain Festival.

Our art department was designed to enable students to develop an interest in and an appreciation for thegift God has given through art. High school art courses allow students to work with many different mediums, such as drawing, painting, printmaking, clay, wire, wood, and plaster.

Our students’ artwork has been entered into many art shows in the area, such as at the University of St. Francis, Huntington University, and Scholastic Arts, and won awards in each of these arts shows over the past few years.

Our drama department offers an elective in drama class with a small play production in the fall and a major musical in the spring.

The goal of this department is to show students that everything they do can be for the glory of the Lord, whether it be sculpting or portraying a character, and to teach students that this mindset can be applied to everything they do in life. By keeping their gaze fixed on the Lord, our students become difference-makers in Christ in whatever field or hobby they choose to pursue!
