We recognize the importance of technology in the modern world and therefore, our Junior and Senior High teachers seek to integrate the use of personal technological devices to enhance classroom instruction. Students may bring their own devices, provided that they meet the following criteria:
- Minimum of 2G of RAM for tablets
- Minimum of 4G of RAM for laptops
- Minimum of 7” – 8” screen
- WiFi capable
- Attached or bluetooth keyboard
- Protective Case
Bring Your Own Device Policy
Students may bring their own technology devices as long as they are a tablet or larger. Cell phones and iPods are not permitted in the classroom. If a cell phone or iPod is seen or heard in the classroom, the student will receive a referral.
A. First Referral – Phone will be taken to front office. Either the parent must come pick up the phone at the front office or contact the school via email or phone granting permission for their student to pick up his or her phone.
B. Second Referral – Phone will be taken to the front office. Either the parent must come pick up the phone at the front office or contact the school via email or phone granting permission for their student to pick up his or her phone. Student is assigned a Friday School Detention.
C. Third Referral – Phone will be removed from school property for a designated time set by the administrator. Also, the administrator will contact parents regarding further disciplinary action.
We understand that choosing to come to Lakewood adds an additional financial component to your lives, so we want to allow for some compromise in our expectations for technology. Since we are removing cell phones and iPods from the classroom, we are no longer requiring technology devices for our students. However, we strongly encourage that your student has a device that is tablet size or larger! Technology can be effective in the classroom, and it is imperative that students learn to use technology in a responsible manner.
LPCS is not responsible if these personal devices are lost, stolen, or damaged, even if it is in connection with a device being confiscated for inappropriate use. Students may carry a laptop bag to class.
Before a student will be allowed to use the computer network and/or computer device of the school in any way, he or she shall be required to sign the Acceptable Use Policy and agree to abide by its terms. While Lakewood Park Christian School will make every effort to protect students and teachers from any misuses or abuses of the information service, all users must be continuously on guard to avoid inappropriate and illegal interaction with the information service.
