At Lakewood, we are committed to providing the highest quality education possible, and part of that includes making sure that students shine on standardized tests. Our students take a variety of standardized exams to show how they are learning in comparison to other students statewide and throughout the nation, and to help teachers better meet the needs of students. Therefore, standardized testing can be seen not as a source of stress, but as a useful tool for diagnosing how to serve our students better.
Our third graders take the IREAD-3 test, which assesses their reading skills, and ISTEP tests are administered to students in grades 3, 4, 5 and 6. The Northwest Education Assessment (NWEA) is also administered in grades K-6. An annual assessment, WiDA ACCESS, is also administered to students identified as English Language Learners (ELLs) to measure English Language proficiency.
We look forward to helping your student prepare for standardized exams and using the exams as an opportunity to cater to your student’s unique academic needs.
