Hands-on Learning

Every learner at Lakewood Park Christian School is different; there is no “one size fits all” education. Therefore, it should come as no surprise that, since every student is different, every instruction plan is also different. In order to tailor our instruction to the unique needs of every learner, we offer many hands-on learning experiences in our elementary school. We conduct science labs and use manipulatives (physical tools that aid in teaching concepts by allowing students to interact with items such as blocks or coins) in various context areas to enhance learning and reach different types of learners. Our teachers also differentiate math instruction to meet every student’s unique needs. We also apply different strategies when it comes to reading and writing instruction. Our elementary students participate in guided reading groups and Readers & Writers Workshops. In order to reach every student, a teamwork approach is utilized among teachers, students, and parents to help every child reach his or her full potential.
